The University of Idaho’s athletic programs have found a new home on the airwaves, as News Radio KNBW announced a multi‑year agreement to broadcast every regular‑season and post‑season Vandal football and men’s basketball contest through the 2026‑27 and 2027‑28 campaigns.
Expanding Reach Across the Inland Northwest
The partnership expands KNBW’s radio footprint through a collaboration with Horizon Broadcasting Group in Spokane, targeting roughly 16 percent of alumni who now reside in the Spokane‑Coeur d’Alene corridor and bringing Vandal sports to a wider regional audience.
Fans will hear familiar voices guiding the action; head coaches Thomas Ford Jr. and Alex Pribble are slated to appear weekly on Spokane Morning News, while Dennis Patchin, a member of the Inland Northwest Sports Hall of Fame, continues his role as the “Voice of the Vandals,” and former All‑Sun Belt tight end Trent Cowan provides color commentary for every football broadcast.
Beyond live play‑by‑play, the deal underscores KBNW’s commitment to local journalism, delivering 28.5 hours of regional news each week, including the popular Morning and Afternoon News programs that keep the community informed about campus and civic matters.
The season opens on August 28 with a showdown against Cal Poly, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. PT on ESPN, a slot that promises high visibility and a fresh start for the Vandal football program.
Weekly coaches’ shows will be staged at Forty Two Bar Kitchen in Moscow, offering fans an intimate setting to interact with the coaching staff and players.
