The Vegas Knight Hawks snapped a two-game skid in dramatic fashion, edging the San Antonio Gunslingers 43-42 in a back-and-forth showdown.
After a sluggish first half that saw the Knights up 21-12, the Gunslingers surged ahead in the third quarter with a pair of touchdowns that put them ahead 26-24.
The Final Drive
With just moments left on the clock, quarterback Senika McKie launched a 40-yard Hail Mary that seemed destined to be caught by a sea of defenders.
McKie leapt into the right corner of the end zone, wrestling past three defenders to secure the winning pass as the crowd erupted.
The play not only sealed a 43-42 victory but also marked the Knights’ first win after dropping their opening two contests by narrow margins.
Earlier in the season the team had compiled a 9-1 record, but injuries and close losses had left them teetering on the brink of the playoffs.
The win also featured a pivotal touchdown run by Quentin Randolph early in the final quarter that briefly gave Vegas the lead before San Antonio answered with a 28-yard strike to Deon Cook.
Despite the setback, the Gunslingers showed resilience, having appeared to clinch the game with Cook’s score before the Knights’ last-second heroics.
