A season of stars
Fans across the Knoxville region are being asked to vote for the area’s top high school baseball player, a title that will be decided before noon on May 16. The competition draws its participants from a dozen schools, each coach submitting the statistical profile of their standout athletes to the local media outlet.
The nominations are compiled from data collected by MaxPreps, a site that aggregates high school sports statistics, and the numbers reflect a season of offensive fireworks and pitching dominance.
Among the most talked‑about hitters is Miles Watson of Alcoa, who posted a .484 average with 58 runs batted in, 45 hits, 14 home runs and a dozen doubles. Kaysan Davis of Austin‑East also shines with a .375 average, 23 stolen bases and 17 RBIs.
Several of the nominees are also in the running for the TSSAA’s Mr. Baseball award, including Jackson Treece of Coalfield, who earned that distinction after going 8‑0 on the mound with a 1.21 earned‑run average and 42 strikeouts in 29 innings.
Pitchers such as Gaven French of Heritage have posted sub‑1.40 ERAs over more than 50 innings, while Travis Brummitt of Farragut remains unbeaten at 7‑0 with a 1.19 ERA and 55 strikeouts.
Other notable performances include Brody Carr of Jefferson County, who bats .414 and drives in 30 runs, and Easton Housewright of Grace Christian, who in his first season is already batting .418 with 46 hits and 10 home runs.
The breadth of talent extends to the infield and outfield, where players like Colby Comparato of Halls combine a .440 average with 38 RBIs and 13 home runs, and Will Price of Gibbs balances a 6‑1 record and a 0.93 ERA with 104 strikeouts.
