Knoxville, Iowa — The Knoxville baseball team delivered a commanding 14-0 victory over Pella Christian on Tuesday, improving to 11-5 on the summer schedule.
The turning point arrived in the top of the second inning, when Knoxville’s first six hitters reached base safely, setting the stage for an eight-run burst that put the game out of reach early.
Jessen Ferguson was the offensive catalyst, launching a three-run homer in the fourth inning and finishing with four RBIs and three runs scored. His performance capped a night in which he drove in a key run and crossed the plate three times.
Lincoln Norris, Brady Roozeboom and Jacob Mitrisin each contributed two hits, while Kyler Gifford and Emmitt Hyatt added two RBIs apiece. The team finished with 11 hits, while Ben Van Wyngarden managed only a two-out double for Pella Christian.
On the mound, Briar Kingrey earned the win after striking out six batters in four innings, while Karson Harrill took the loss, surrendering six earned runs on nine hits and five walks in just 2.1 innings.
