Korey Heppeard announced his resignation as head coach of the Station Camp baseball team, citing a desire to shift his focus toward broader athletic administration. His departure comes after an 11‑year tenure that produced more than 200 victories and a 2024 Class 3A state runner‑up finish.
During his time at the helm, Heppeard cultivated a pipeline of talent that includes players such as Ryan Ginther, Chase Burns and Luke Sinnard, each of whom have gone on to receive notable accolades and, in some cases, professional opportunities. The program’s consistency was underscored by back‑to‑back region championships in 2019 and 2024, and a state tournament appearance two years prior.
Brent Ebinger, who served as Heppeard’s assistant for the past several seasons, will step into the vacant coaching position. Ebinger brings a modest playing background that includes a stint in the minor leagues and a 32nd‑round selection in the MLB draft, experiences he hopes will help him maintain the program’s competitive edge.
The team finished the most recent season with a 15‑21 record, following a 14‑22 campaign the year before, a slide that reflects both the challenges of rebuilding and the high bar set by Heppeard’s era. Ebinger expressed enthusiasm about inheriting a foundation that includes recent region titles and a culture of development.
Beyond the wins and losses, Heppeard’s legacy is also measured by the academic and personal growth of his players, many of whom have credited him with shaping their futures on and off the field. As he transitions to an administrative role, the school hopes to leverage his leadership to expand athletic opportunities across its campuses.
