Kristin Haynie grew up in the Greater Lansing area, where she quickly became one of the most decorated women's basketball players the region has ever produced.
At Mason High School she earned the Miss Basketball runner‑up honor as a senior in 2000, a testament to her skill and dedication on the court.
Her collegiate career at Michigan State was equally impressive; she helped the Spartans reach a national runner‑up finish in 2005 and finished as the program's all‑time leader in assists.
Haynie also became one of only four players in Big Ten history to amass at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists and 300 steals, underscoring her all‑around impact.
A WNBA Title and a Global Journey
The Sacramento Monarchs selected her ninth overall in the 2005 WNBA draft, and she rewarded that faith by winning a championship as a rookie. Over five seasons she appeared in 160 games, while also playing professionally overseas.
After her playing days concluded, Haynie turned to coaching, ultimately landing the head women's basketball position at Central Michigan University, where she now guides the next generation of players.
