Robert Rikard, the attorney who has been representing the estate of NASCAR star Kyle Busch, recently spoke out to quash the swirl of rumors that have been circulating about the late driver’s life‑insurance coverage.
According to Rikard, two of the policies that Busch had taken out were essentially worthless and were terminated before his death, while the remaining policies were managed in a way that protected the family’s interests.
The Settlement and Its Aftermath
The legal dispute culminated in an $8.5 million settlement between Busch’s wife, Samantha, and Pacific Life Insurance, the company that had sold the policies. The couple alleged that they were misled into purchasing plans marketed as tax‑free retirement vehicles.
Rikard emphasized that the family did not abandon their coverage; instead, they engaged an independent insurance specialist who recommended a structured transition to replacement policies that include a substantial lifetime death benefit.
Kyle Busch died at the age of 41 from sepsis that followed a severe bout of pneumonia, leaving behind his wife and their two children, Braxton and Lennix.
