A Homecoming for a Young Coach
Kyle Colburn, a 2007 graduate of Lebanon High and former All‑State quarterback, has been appointed head football coach for the Raiders. After stints at Mascoma High and Newfound High, Colburn returns to his alma mater with a clear mission: to blend accountability on the field with a fun, player‑centered culture.
Colburn’s philosophy centers on making the game enjoyable while demanding excellence in the classroom and community. He believes the current roster, anchored by a strong offensive line, offers a solid foundation to build upon. The coach emphasizes that a positive environment will translate into better performance and greater cohesion.
Building on a Foundation
The program’s recent history reflects a dramatic turnaround. Under Doug Johnson, the Raiders moved from a winless 2022 season and a stint on the junior varsity to a varsity return in 2024, finishing 2‑6 and narrowly missing the playoffs in Division III. Colburn inherits a team that has already shown resilience and a culture he describes as strong.
Offseason work has been intense, with players putting in extra effort to sharpen skills and deepen camaraderie. Colburn notes that the offensive line is as formidable as ever, and he expects that unit to be a cornerstone of the attack. He also highlights the importance of community support, promising to engage families and local fans as partners in the program’s growth.
Looking ahead, Colburn is focused on sustaining momentum and expanding the program’s reach over the next few years. By fostering a culture of accountability, fun, and continuous improvement, he aims to keep the Raiders competitive and to honor the school that shaped his own football journey.
