Kyle Klein Takes the Helm of Delsea Regional High School Football

A new coaching era brings a modern offensive vision to a historic New Jersey program

Kyle Klein has been named the new head coach of the Delsea Regional High School football program, taking over a team with a storied history and a recent stretch of transition.

In addition to steering the Crusaders on the sideline, Klein will also teach health and physical education at Delsea, embedding his philosophy into the broader school community.

Praise from the Athletic Director

Athletic director Ken Schoudt highlighted Klein’s blend of experience and passion, noting that his track record of building strong athletic cultures aligns with the district’s vision.

Under Klein’s guidance, the offense will shift toward a more contemporary look, increasingly operating from the shotgun formation while preserving the physical identity that defines Delsea football.

He becomes the second head coach in the past three seasons, succeeding Jason Volpe, who finished with an 8‑13 record. The transition marks a pivotal moment for a program seeking renewed momentum.

Klein’s journey to this role has been marked by diverse experiences. He previously led the Buena program for two seasons, compiling a 7‑12 record, and served as an assistant at Cedar Creek during their 2019 sectional title run. Earlier, he was hired as head coach at Pleasantville in 2020 but stepped down before ever taking the field.

Reflecting on his new responsibilities, Klein expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead a historic program and emphasized his commitment to mentoring student‑athletes both on and off the field.
