A new era for BHS football
Bemidji High School has announced Kyle McMartin as its new head coach for the varsity football program, elevating him from his current role as assistant principal at Bemidji Middle School.
McMartin brings more than a decade of coaching experience, having guided teams at both the middle school and high school levels, and he previously starred as a defensive lineman for Bemidji State University from 2005 through 2009.
During his collegiate years he played under head coaches Jeff Tesch and Brent Bolte, experiences that have shaped his tactical approach and leadership style.
Activities Director Kristen McRae lauded McMartin’s deep knowledge of the game and his unwavering dedication to the student‑athlete experience, calling the appointment a “natural progression” for the program.
The school board and community members alike anticipate that his familiarity with the district and his proven ability to develop talent will revitalize the team’s competitiveness and foster a stronger culture of excellence on and off the field.
