The Alaska Nanooks announced this week that forward Kyle Powers has signed a letter of intent, marking the latest addition to their roster as the program prepares for the upcoming campaign in Fairbanks.
Junior Career Highlights
Powers arrives after three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he accumulated 96 points in 182 games, including two full seasons with the Charlottetown Islanders and a stint with the Baie‑Comeau Drakkar.
During his final junior season with Baie‑Comeau, he set career highs with 34 points and served as an alternate captain, underscoring his leadership on and off the ice.
Coach’s Assessment
Head coach Erik Largen praised Powers, describing him as a skilled forward who can play hard and heavy, and noting his ability to skate, check and generate offense.
Largen emphasized that Powers’ physical attributes — standing 6‑foot‑1 and weighing 192 pounds, shooting left‑handed — will add a new dimension to the Nanooks’ lineup.
