A New Chapter for Michigan Soccer
Kyle Venter has been appointed assistant coach for the University of Michigan women's soccer team for the 2026 season, bringing a blend of professional experience and academic insight to the program.
Venter's coaching journey began in 2019 at the University of Arizona, where he contributed to a rapidly evolving squad before moving on to three seasons at the University of Iowa, helping the Hawkeyes to a 40‑13‑12 record and three NCAA tournament berths.
At the University of Cincinnati, he refined a defensive unit that cut goals against by half a goal per game year‑over‑year, and he even served as interim head coach in the fall of 2022.
His time at the University of Florida saw him mentor goalkeeper Alexa Goldberg to an SEC‑leading 4.80 saves per game, showcasing his ability to develop talent between the posts.
Venter also guided the University of New Mexico to the 2013 NCAA College Cup and earned multiple All‑American honors as a player, where he graduated with a business degree focused on human resources management.
Before his coaching career, he spent seven years as a professional player, culminating in an MLS Cup championship with the LA Galaxy and earning Conference USA Player and Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
Now, as he steps onto the Ann Arbor campus, Venter hopes to translate his diverse background into a defensive identity that can compete at the highest level of collegiate soccer.
