A season to remember
Kynsli Gillmore, the Minot High goalkeeper who backstopped the Majettes to a 12‑2‑1 record last year, announced her verbal commitment to the University of North Dakota’s women’s soccer program. The pledge comes after a junior campaign in which she posted a save percentage close to 90% and recorded nine shutouts, numbers that helped earn her a place on the all‑state team.
Coach Dan Schaefer praised Gillmore’s consistency between the posts, noting that her reflexes and positioning have been a cornerstone of the team’s defensive stability. “She makes the difficult look routine,” he said, adding that her leadership has set a standard for younger players.
Looking ahead
With one final high school season on the horizon, Gillmore will graduate from Minot High in the spring of 2027 before stepping onto the UND campus. The transition will give her a year to adjust academically while maintaining her elite status in the classroom and on the field.
The commitment reflects a broader trend of top North Dakota talent staying in‑state for collegiate soccer, a move that bodes well for the Fighting Hawks’ recruiting pipeline. Athletic director Melissa Hightower highlighted that Gillmore’s addition strengthens a roster already positioned to contend for conference honors.
