La Salle Secures Commitment from Cameroonian Forward Jay Nelson Mboudjika

International freshman joins as part of a diverse 2026‑27 roster, bringing size and versatility to the Explorers' program

A New Face in the Paint

La Salle University has added Jay Nelson Mboudjika to its men’s basketball roster for the 2026‑27 season, confirming the freshman’s arrival from Cameroon.

Standing at 6‑10, Mboudjika honed his game at CATS Academy, where he averaged eight points and eight rebounds per game and competed at the AAU level with Expressions Elite.

The Cameroonian prospect attracted interest from several mid‑major programs, including Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure and Bryant, before electing to join the Explorers.

Coaches highlighted his length and mobility, noting that his ability to guard multiple positions and protect the rim should bolster the team’s defensive schemes.

International Diversity Strengthens the Roster

Mboudjika will join four other international student‑athletes — Bowyn Beatty of Australia, Arlan Masharaliyev of Kazakhstan, Francois Nkoy‑Eale of Ireland and Vice Zanki of Croatia — forming a globally diverse lineup.

The incoming class also features freshmen RJ Smith and Breylon Webb, giving the Explorers a promising mix of talent ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The addition underscores La Salle’s continued emphasis on recruiting players who can contribute immediately both on and off the court, aligning with the university’s broader strategy to expand its international footprint.
