Andrew Lafond is set to return to La Salle University this season, taking on a coaching role that brings him back to the campus where his basketball journey began.
Lafond’s connection to the university runs deep; he played for the Explorers from 2018 to 2022, appearing in 16 games and earning a place on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.
A Homecoming Fueled by Experience
Off the court, he balanced athletics with academics, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and later completing a Master’s of Business Administration while serving as a graduate assistant.
His professional trajectory includes a stint as an assistant in the Basketball Operations office of the Detroit Pistons, followed by two years as video coordinator for the Richmond men’s basketball program.
Lafond’s experience spans analytics, operations, and player development, positioning him to contribute across multiple facets of the program.
Beyond his recent roles, he honed his skills at Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where he helped lead his team to a Philadelphia Catholic League championship and a state title as a junior.
Now, as he steps into his new coaching position, Lafond hopes to blend his analytical background with his playing experience to help La Salle achieve its competitive goals.
The university’s athletic director highlighted Lafond’s unique blend of on‑court playing history and off‑court professional work as a key factor in the hiring decision.
Fans and alumni alike are eager to see how his fresh perspective will shape the team’s strategy and culture moving forward.
