Lubbock Christian University’s women’s basketball program is set to make its sixth straight appearance in the D2CCA Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic, a showcase that has become a staple of the team’s early‑season schedule.
The Lady Chaparrals will open the tournament on October 30 against Winona State at 7 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Center in Honolulu, before the bracket’s placement games wrap up on November 1.
Entering the event the squad carries a six‑game winning streak and boasts an 8‑3 record in D2CCA Tip‑Off competition, a perfect 4‑0 mark in games played on Hawaiian soil after previous trips in 2013‑14 and 2021.
The eight‑team field includes Alaska Anchorage, Chaminade, Colorado Mesa, Hawaii Pacific, St. Mary’s, Western Colorado and Winona State, all competing in a format that determines placement games on the final day.
Beyond the competition, the tournament serves as a showcase for the university’s growing basketball program and highlights the partnership between Chaminade, Hawaii Pacific and College Tournaments Hawaii, LLC.
For the Lady Chaparrals, the trip to Honolulu is more than a travel itinerary; it is a chance to cement their reputation on a national stage and to rally support from a fan base that has followed the team through six consecutive Tip‑Off events.
A Milestone in the Lady Chaparrals' Journey
The team’s consistent presence in the Tip‑Off Classic reflects a program that has matured over the past half‑decade, blending experienced seniors with promising underclassmen.
Each appearance adds to a narrative of resilience and ambition, as the Lady Chaparrals aim to translate early‑season momentum into a deep postseason run.
