Avery Mills, a guard for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, will miss the upcoming season after sustaining a right knee injury during a team workout on June 30.
Coach Kim Caldwell confirmed the diagnosis on July 7, noting that the injury will sideline the junior for an extended period as she undergoes rehabilitation.
Mills transferred to Tennessee from Liberty University this spring, bringing a 5‑foot‑9 skill set and a fresh perspective to the program.
Her arrival was part of a larger influx of talent, as she became the first of 13 transfer‑portal commitments for the Lady Vols.
A Setback in the Build‑Up
The injury casts a shadow over what was shaping up to be a promising campaign for Tennessee, which had been working to solidify its roster ahead of the new schedule.
While the coaching staff remains optimistic about the depth of the squad, the loss of Mills forces a reshuffling of roles and minutes.
Fans and analysts alike will be watching how the team adapts without the guard’s contributions on both ends of the floor.
