Los Angeles Football Club announced today that it has secured the permanent transfer of Ecuadorian midfielder Sergio Vásquez from Orense SC, tying him to the club through the 2029‑30 season with an option to extend through 2030‑31.
The 22‑year‑old arrives as a U22 Initiative player, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and a P‑1 visa, a status that reflects LAFC’s continued focus on developing young talent.
Vásquez brings a blend of intensity, versatility and technical quality that aligns with the Black & Gold’s tactical identity. In Ecuador’s Serie A he logged 91 appearances, starting 76 of them, and contributed five goals and seven assists, highlighted by a 2026 campaign in which he started every one of the 26 league matches and recorded four goals and three assists.
A Strategic Addition for the Black & Gold
His arrival adds to a lineage of Ecuadorian players who have left their mark at LAFC, including Diego Palacios, José Cifuentes and Jhegson Méndez, all members of the 2022 MLS Cup‑winning squad and the 2022 World Cup roster for Ecuador.
