A Season of Transition
The Lake girls soccer team concluded the previous campaign with an 8‑6‑3 record, but the journey was punctuated by key injuries and the departure of several senior contributors. Players such as Savannah Little and Brooke Wiley saw their seasons cut short, while a wave of graduations removed longtime fixtures from the lineup.
Head coach Lauren Colangelo, now in her third year, speaks of a renewed sense of chemistry and optimism. She highlights the blend of returning seniors and a fresh class of underclassmen, noting that the team’s defensive structure must adapt to the loss of longtime anchors while capitalizing on the energy of younger players.
Competition for the starting goalkeeper spot is already shaping early practices, with Payton Brickner and sophomore Peyten Tallman vying for the role. Meanwhile, the sophomore cohort — including Macey Maguire, Sagan Schroyer, Kali Kos, Paige Allen and Belle Tippey — is expected to make an immediate impact, and eleven freshmen have joined the program, among them standout defender Sienna Blank and utility players Maddie Solomon and Payton Brickner.
The coaching staff remains focused on maintaining the close‑knit culture that has defined the squad. By emphasizing teamwork and resilience, they aim to turn the challenges of a reshaped roster into an opportunity for growth as the team faces a demanding league schedule.
