The Lake Highlands Wildcats have once again earned a spot in the state’s 7‑on‑7 football tournament, marking the second straight year the team has advanced to the championship stage.
A Milestone for the Program
The tournament will unfold at Veterans Memorial Park in College Station on June 26 and 27, where the Wildcats will join a field of elite teams competing in a fast‑paced, pass‑heavy format.
Unlike traditional tackle football, 7‑on‑7 eliminates blocking, tackling and kicking, turning the game into a test of quick decision‑making, route precision and defensive agility. Points are awarded to the defense for interceptions and for halting the opponent on a series of downs, adding a strategic layer that rewards opportunistic play.
Community Support Fuels the Wildcats' Drive
To offset tournament fees and travel costs, the team has launched a fundraising campaign that relies on local businesses and fans. Contributions will cover everything from registration fees to transportation, ensuring that every player can focus on representing their school on the field.
Veterans Memorial Park, situated at 3101 Harvey Road, will serve as the event’s hub, offering multiple fields and spectator amenities. Organizers expect a large turnout, underscoring the growing popularity of the 7‑on‑7 format across Texas.
