A new leader takes the helm
Lake Marion High School in Orangeburg County has named Coach Kamrie Connell as its interim head football coach, filling the vacancy left by the previous staff and signaling a commitment to continuity.
Connell arrives with 14 years of varsity coaching experience, having served as the team's offensive coordinator since 2024. Prior to this role he guided Southside High School in Greenville to four regional championships within six seasons, a testament to his offensive acumen and program building skills.
More than a coach
Beyond the sidelines, Connell also teaches eighth‑grade Social Studies at Lake Marion High School, weaving academic rigor into the fabric of the school day. He graduated from Edisto High School in 2009 as a four‑year varsity letterman and three‑year starting quarterback, earning All‑State and All‑Area honors throughout his high school career.
His athletic pedigree continued at North Greenville University, where he received a football scholarship after a standout prep career that included All‑State recognition. Connell’s blend of playing experience, coaching history, and classroom responsibility positions him to mentor players on multiple fronts.
Principal Sean Glover praised Connell’s leadership, stating that the interim appointment is rooted in confidence in his ability to foster integrity, academic achievement, and athletic excellence. Glover emphasized that the role will prioritize the holistic development of each student‑athlete.
The school community anticipates that Connell’s deep local roots and proven track record will help sustain the program’s momentum while he steers the team through the remainder of the season.
