Tyler Waters, who spent several years as an assistant coach at Marywood University and helped guide the Lakeland girls varsity team, has been named the new head coach of the Lakeland High School boys basketball program. He says he wants to inject energy and excitement into the squad, drawing on his experience coaching youth leagues and developing talent at the grassroots level.
Camp standout Nico Antoniacci catches eyes of top programs
Nico Antoniacci, a junior guard from Riverside, delivered a standout performance at the National Basketball Players Association Top 100 Camp, a showing that has attracted interest from powerhouse schools such as Villanova University and Virginia Tech University, among several other suitors.
The ripple effect of that exposure is already evident in the local recruiting scene, where two Lackawanna League girls standouts have secured multiple scholarship offers. Chrissy Jacklinski, a senior from Lakeland, announced a commitment offer from Lafayette College and also holds prospects from St. Bonaventure, the University of New Hampshire and Sacramento State, while Chloe Mamera, also from Riverside, boasts five Division I scholarship options.
A new era for Lakeland basketball
Waters’ appointment comes at a time when the program seeks a fresh direction. With a background that includes stints at Henry Hudson Regional High School and a focus on player development, he hopes to build on the foundation laid by previous coaching staff and guide the team toward competitive success.
