Lakeland United FC, the Florida‑based development platform that has built a presence in more than three dozen countries, is currently perched in second place in the USL League Two South Florida Division. Since its founding in 2020, the club has forged ties with 124 agencies and has helped nearly 500 athletes earn college scholarships, with 273 of those awards already secured.
Strategic Leadership Arrives
The organization announced this week that it has brought on two seasoned professionals to strengthen its ownership group. Breno Couto will take on the role of Chief Marketing Officer, while Rogério Bigio will serve as Chief Financial Officer, tasked with steering the club’s financial strategy and expanding its commercial footprint.
Couto arrives with a global résumé in sports infrastructure, having contributed to high‑profile projects such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. His background spans multiple continents, giving him a nuanced understanding of international football business and marketing.
Bigio, meanwhile, brings a deep finance pedigree and a current partnership at International Dymension, a Caribbean‑based agency that represents talent across the region. His experience in international football finance is expected to bolster the club’s fiscal resilience and support its expansion plans.
Both executives share a vision of building a modern, sustainable sports organization that prioritizes community engagement and long‑term growth. Their appointment comes as Lakeland United FC looks to leverage its extensive network of partners to deepen its impact on and off the pitch.
With the new leadership in place, the club is poised to accelerate its development pipeline, attract additional investment, and maintain its upward trajectory in the competitive USL League Two landscape.
