Lamar University has completed a $2.5 million renovation of its football locker room, transforming it into a modern hub designed to enhance player comfort and foster team bonding.
The upgraded space, unveiled in front of more than 100 guests, includes personalized lockers equipped with ventilation, a lounge with a nutrition station, a custom pool table, a PlayStation 5, a Wall of Honor, a barber station and a sauna.
A New Era for the Cardinals
Lamar President Jaime Taylor emphasized the institution's dedication to excellence, stating that the project underscores the university's commitment to providing top‑tier resources for its student‑athletes.
Coach Pete Rossomando personally selected many of the design elements, while his son Reese Rossomando served as project superintendent for SETEX Construction, ensuring that the vision was executed with precision.
Aiden McCown, the Cardinals' quarterback, praised the new facility for its ability to improve team cohesion and overall comfort, noting that the amenities create an environment where players can focus on growth and performance.
The renovation forms part of a broader series of upgrades to Lamar's football infrastructure, including a new video board and sound system at Provost Umphrey Stadium and artificial turf installed in 2021.
During the 2025 season, Lamar finished 8‑5 and advanced to the national playoffs, marking Coach Rossomando's fourth year at the helm as he prepares for the upcoming campaign.
The Cardinals are scheduled to open the season on August 29 in Beaumont against Abilene Christian, with the newly renovated locker room poised to play a central role in the team's preparation.
