Langden Kitchen, a former Northwest Missouri State Bearcat, is emerging as a pivotal piece of the Missouri Tigers’ defensive line as the 2026 season approaches.
Despite not being the most athletic prospect, Kitchen’s combination of size, technique and relentless consistency has earned him a starting role at the edge position alongside veteran Darris Smith.
A Familiar System, A Familiar Face
Having spent a season under defensive coordinator Corey Batoon, Kitchen already knows the playbook inside out, which gives him a head start in mastering the nuances of the Tigers’ scheme.
In his rookie year he recorded 14 total tackles and half a sack, while also generating four quarterback hurries that showcased his ability to pressure the passer.
His physical presence allows him to clog rushing lanes effectively, using his strength to anchor the line and free up teammates for big plays.
The coaching staff expects a noticeable jump in his pass‑rushing production and overall impact, believing that his growth could transform the defensive front.
With the defensive end spot identified as a critical component of the Tigers’ defense, Kitchen’s development will be watched closely by fans and analysts alike.
