A Triumph After a Rough Start
The Laredo American Little League's Senior Division team captured the Southwest Regional Championship, a victory that guarantees them a place at the Senior League Baseball World Series in Easley, South Carolina. Under the guidance of coaches Danny Becerra, Luis Gonzalez and Juan Ramirez, the squad turned a disappointing first‑round loss into a story of resilience.
The championship run was anything but straightforward. After slipping into the losers bracket with an early defeat, the players fought back with three consecutive wins, navigating a tight schedule and mounting pressure. Their perseverance culminated in a decisive victory over Victoria Northeast in the regional final, sealing the title and the coveted World Series berth.
The roster that will represent Laredo consists of twelve talented youngsters: Isaac Becerra, Erik Gonzalez, Carlos Alvarez Jr., Jullien Cardenas, Derek Carrizales, Rodrigo Elizondo, Alejandro Labra, Diego Martinez, Cesar Ramirez, Anthony Vargas, Javier Viera and Fernando Zapata Jr. Each brings a unique skill set, and together they embody the community’s spirit and dedication to the sport.
Looking ahead, the team will travel to South Carolina to compete against some of the nation’s best teenage players. The World Series in Easley, South Carolina, promises intense competition, but the Laredo squad enters with confidence forged through adversity and a shared commitment to excellence.
