After hanging up her boots on November 7, 2025, the former midfielder steps into the role of assistant coach, a move that feels like a natural extension of a 13‑year love affair with the franchise.

Head coach Laura Harvey, who has guided the Reign since 2013, sees Barnes’s appointment as a perfect blend of on‑field insight and tactical acumen. “Lauren knows every nuance of this organization,” Harvey said. “Her understanding of the players, the culture and the expectations gives us a distinct advantage as we look ahead to the next chapter.”
