A civil complaint filed in the Kentucky courts alleges that two students at Scott County High School were subjected to repeated sexual abuse, harassment and assault by their basketball coach and teacher, Sean Woods.
According to the filing, Woods engaged in inappropriate touching, made lewd comments and invited students to attend parties where alcohol was served, behavior that the plaintiffs say persisted despite warnings from school staff.
Administrative Oversight and Concealment
Internal records indicate that Woods had previously been terminated from another position for similar misconduct, and supervisory defendants were aware of his history before hiring him, yet they continued to assign him authority over students.
After the allegations were substantiated by social workers, the affected students were transferred to another school in January 2026 and Woods resigned in March 2026, but the plaintiffs say the trauma, emotional distress and disruption to their education have lasting consequences.
