A Summer of Growth on the Court
From June 22 through June 26, the campus of Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke buzzed with the energy of young athletes, as the college’s basketball camp welcomed students from grades five through eight for an immersive week of skill development and friendly competition.
Head coaches Ron Strothers and TJ Ziolkowski guided the participants, blending fundamental drills with structured games to sharpen ball handling, shooting, passing and defensive techniques while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship.
Each morning began with dynamic stretching, followed by focused instruction on core basketball skills, and culminated in a series of challenges that tested both individual ability and collaborative spirit. Campers received daily refreshments and a commemorative LCCC Basketball Camp t‑shirt, reinforcing a sense of belonging to the program.
Beyond technical improvement, the week-long experience was designed to boost confidence and foster new friendships, reflecting LCCC’s broader mission to provide educational and recreational opportunities that strengthen the local community.
The camp’s success underscores the college’s ongoing dedication to youth development, offering a model for how community institutions can create supportive environments that nurture both athletic talent and personal growth.
