A strong start on the road
Le Moyne College’s men’s soccer team traveled to face SUNY Polytechnic on Sunday, emerging with a 2‑0 win that underscored their early-season form. The match, played under clear skies, saw the Dolphins dominate possession and create multiple chances against a resilient opponent.
The opening goal arrived in the fifth minute when Louis Weisser received a precise pass from Antonino Pagano and slotted the ball past the keeper. The early strike settled the team and allowed them to settle into a comfortable rhythm.
Weisser doubled the lead just before halftime, finding the net in the 45th minute after a quick combination involving Pagano and Jackson Card. The goal not only extended the lead but also forced SUNY Polytechnic to chase the game.
Goalkeeper Scott Borden contributed a crucial save in the first half, preserving the clean sheet, while Tyler Barth’s defensive work limited SUNY Polytechnic’s scoring opportunities. Antonino Pagano added two assists and three shots, highlighting his playmaking presence.
Jackson Card, who also registered an assist, contributed two shots of his own, reinforcing the midfield’s creative output. Across the match, Le Moyne recorded a total of ten shots, with Pagano leading the effort.
The victory marks the team’s second straight win as they prepare for a Thursday night clash with Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The upcoming contest will test the Dolphins’ momentum as they look to extend their early-season unbeaten streak.
