Lee-Scott Academy Taps Jacob Ozment as Interim Head Football Coach

Longtime defensive coordinator embraces new role as Warriors prepare for 2026 season

A New Chapter for the Warriors

Lee-Scott Academy has appointed Jacob Ozment as the interim head football coach for the 2026 season, tapping a familiar face who has shaped the program’s defensive identity for the past six years.

Ozment, who has served as defensive coordinator during the Warriors’ recent state championship runs, expressed his gratitude to God and the school’s leadership, saying he is excited to build on the foundation he helped create.

Defensive Legacy and Achievements

Under his guidance, the defense has been among the nation’s most stingy, allowing just 71 points in the 2022 season and ranking first in Alabama, while the 2023 campaign yielded 118 points and a No. 13 defensive ranking nationally. The unit has produced 23 all‑area selections and six all‑state honorees.

Leadership Endorsements

Athletic director Clay McCall praised Ozment’s experience and leadership, stating that the school is confident in his ability to maintain stability and continue the program’s upward trajectory. Head of school Dr. Stan Cox echoed the sentiment, highlighting Ozment’s deep relationships with players and coaches.

The Warriors will open the 2026 season at home against Glenwood School on August 21, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., marking the first step of Ozment’s interim tenure.
