Beechwood High School is set to welcome back former head coach Noel Rash, who guided the program to eight Kentucky state championships over a 17‑year stretch, after current coach Jay Volker stepped down to accept a teaching post in Ohio.
Volker, who took over from Rash in March 2023 after a stint at Talawanda High School, cited family proximity as the driving factor behind his move, while school officials praised his stewardship of the championship tradition.
A Seamless Transition
Rash and Volker have already begun coordinating a transition plan, ensuring that the team’s momentum and culture remain intact as the new season approaches.
The school board highlighted Volker’s role in preserving the program’s winning legacy and expressed confidence that Rash’s return will reinforce the ambitious goals set for the upcoming campaign.
