Carson City is set to host a nostalgic gathering of baseball history on May 13, when former Major League players Bob Ayrault, Charlie Kerfeld, Darrell Rasner, and Matt Williams join longtime high school coach Ron McNutt for a community‑focused day at Governor’s Field.
A Day of Autographs, Food, and Art
The event will feature autograph signings where fans can meet the former players, free Flocchini hot dogs served by the Kiwanis of Carson City and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and a special giveaway of souvenir baseball caps for the first 100 children aged 4‑16. Attendees can also explore two new murals created by Reno artist Erik Burke, which celebrate the region’s rich sports culture.
Leadership from the Carson City Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 class will dedicate their project to upgrading the area near the concession stand, ensuring a more comfortable experience for families and visitors. The ribbon‑cutting ceremony will mark the opening of these improvements, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the event.
A Coach’s Reflection
At approximately 6 p.m., former CHS Coach Ron McNutt will take the stage to share anecdotes from his coaching career, offering a personal glimpse into the development of local talent and the values he instilled on and off the field.
Following his remarks, an informal Q&A session will invite the players, Coach McNutt, and the audience to engage in a candid discussion about the journey to the majors, the evolution of the game, and the lasting impact of community support.
