A Rising Star Locks In His Future
Alexander Legkov, the 22‑year‑old center who dominated the Federal Prospects Hockey League last season, has agreed to a one‑year, two‑way contract that will see him suiting up for both the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League and the Trois‑Rivières Lions of the ECHL during the 2026‑27 campaign.
Legkov’s breakout year earned him the FPHL’s Rookie of the Year honor after he posted 28 goals and 55 assists for a league‑leading 93 points. His offensive output placed him at the top of the rookie scoring charts and signaled a player ready for the next level of competition.
The forward’s ascent was further accelerated by his participation in the Montreal Canadiens Development Camp this past June and July, where he caught the eye of staff and management. FPHL Commissioner Don Kirnan praised the Russian‑born prospect, highlighting his work ethic and offensive ability as key factors in his rapid progression.
The deal not only secures Legkov’s immediate placement within the AHL system but also positions him as a potential bridge to the NHL. With the FPHL serving as a proven conduit for talent, his trajectory reflects the league’s role in nurturing players who aspire to climb the professional hockey ladder.
