Lehman High School, a public institution in Kyle, Texas, is currently scouting for a new head coach of its varsity baseball team following a series of disturbing allegations that have shaken the program.
Jacob Kaase, who has served as the team’s head coach, has been placed on administrative leave while both law‑enforcement and district officials continue their inquiries. Tim Savoy, the district’s communications director, said the administration is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness.
According to statements from parents and school officials, several players are accused of assaulting a student with a disability, including incidents in which a belt was used as a weapon and other acts of physical aggression were reported.
Investigations Underway
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office have opened parallel investigations, seeking to determine whether the conduct rises to the level of criminal assault. Both inquiries remain active, and no charges have been filed as of yet.
The team’s performance this season reflected the turmoil, finishing with a 5‑25 overall record and a 3‑11 mark in District 25‑5A play. Initially, district administrators considered forfeiting the remaining games, but a wave of parent opposition prompted them to complete the schedule.
Keri Heath, a parent who has been vocal about the need for accountability, praised the decision to finish the season but urged swift action to restore confidence in the program.
District officials have emphasized that the search for a new coach will proceed independently of the investigation’s outcome, signaling a commitment to restoring confidence in the program. Further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
