The move caps a recruiting journey that saw him compete at the University of Virginia before a standout stint at the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned a reputation as one of the most disruptive defenders in the Missouri Valley Conference.
During his tenure at UNI, Bond was recognized with a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team and posted averages of 11.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. He shot 36.2 percent from three-point range, a statistic that underscores his ability to stretch the floor while still anchoring the defense.
Defensive Identity Takes Center Stage
Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger has long emphasized a defensive mentality, and Bond's length, size and instincts fit neatly into that philosophy.
