Seven NCAA Tournament teams headline a demanding opening stretch for the Flames

Liberty University has released its 2026 men's soccer schedule, marking the first season under head coach Scott Wells and the program's debut as a member of the Southern Conference. The slate includes seven opponents that qualified for the 2026 NCAA Tournament, highlighting the competitive nature of the season ahead.

Opening Stretch in California

Preparation begins with three exhibition matches, after which the Flames open the regular season with back‑to‑back games in California. The first test arrives on August 20 at San Diego State, followed by a showdown with San Diego on August 23. The home opener comes on August 28 at Osborne Stadium against Florida Gulf Coast University, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

The preseason itinerary also includes a road test in Chapel Hill on August 8 against North Carolina and a home fixture against Radford on August 12. The final preseason workout takes place at Elon on August 15, giving the squad a chance to fine‑tune before the season begins.

Inside the Southern Conference, Liberty will play six league contests, starting with a September 19 visit to UNC Greensboro. Home conference games feature matchups against Furman, Mercer and VMI, while road trips take the Flames to East Tennessee State and Wofford. The Southern Conference tournament runs from November 3 through November 13 or 14, with the championship game scheduled for the 13th or 14th at a campus site.
