The Liberty Flames have released their 2026‑27 non‑conference men’s basketball schedule, a 14‑game slate that blends early‑season tests with holiday tournament action.
Season Opener at Midnight
The campaign will begin at the stroke of midnight on November 2, when the Flames travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina to open the season against High Point. That game is also being billed as the first college basketball contest played on U.S. soil this year.
A week later, Liberty will host Boyce at Liberty Arena on November 6, setting the tone for a home schedule that also includes matchups with NC Central on November 13, Christendom on December 5, Kentucky Christian on December 11, Coppin State on December 17 and Maryland Eastern Shore on December 22.
The team’s first true test arrives on December 19, when Dayton visits Liberty Arena. The game is part of a broader non‑conference lineup that also features a neutral‑site contest with Southern Illinois in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 17.
Tournament Highlights
Liberty will compete in two marquee holiday tournaments. The Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic in Rock Hill will see the Flames face Princeton on November 25, St. Thomas on November 27 and UNCW on November 28. A separate stint at the Greenbrier Tip‑Off in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, will pit them against Rhode Island on November 20 and Richmond on November 22.
Both tournaments give the Flames a chance to measure themselves against nationally recognized programs early in the season, while also providing exposure for the university and its partners.
Conference Play and the Road to the Title
After the non‑conference gauntlet, Liberty will shift focus to Conference USA, where they will play 18 league games before heading to the 2027 CUSA Championship in Huntsville, Alabama, scheduled for March 9‑13. The Flames enter the season as two‑time defending regular‑season champions and have compiled a 203‑66 record over the past eight years, ranking sixth nationally.
Fans can look forward to purchasing single‑game tickets starting October 15, when Flames Club members gain early access. General public sales will follow on October 23, opening the door for the broader community to attend the upcoming matchups.
The schedule underscores Liberty’s ambition to maintain its recent dominance while testing themselves against a diverse set of opponents across the country.
