Limited Seats Remain for Lenoir’s Summer Baseball Camp
The City of Lenoir is gearing up for its annual Youth Baseball Camp, a three‑day immersion in America’s pastime that draws eager youngsters from across the county. With registration now at capacity for most slots, only eight places remain for children aged six to ten, prompting a scramble among parents eager to secure a spot.
The camp will take place from July 31 through August 1 at Optimist Field 1 in Lenoir Optimist Park, running each day from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The condensed schedule packs skill work, drills, and fun into a half‑day format designed to fit busy summer routines.
Coaching by a Local Veteran
Veteran coach Lyle Holland, a former collegiate baseball player, will lead the instruction. Holland brings years of on‑field experience and a reputation for nurturing young talent, guiding participants through fundamentals such as fielding, throwing, catching and base running.
At a cost of $35 per child, the fee covers not only professional instruction but also a commemorative camp T‑shirt. Parents are asked to equip their children with a baseball glove, a water bottle and appropriate athletic attire, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the sessions.
Organizers emphasize that the camp’s limited enrollment — capped at the first 25 participants — creates a focused learning environment while preserving the community spirit that has defined the program for years. As the final spots fill, the city encourages interested families to register promptly to avoid missing out on this seasonal tradition.
