Lindenwood Baseball Dominates OVC All-Conference Honors with Six Selections

Freshman sensation Will Geary earns Freshman of the Year as Lions prepare for championship showdown

The Lindenwood Lions have announced a sweep of the Ohio Valley Conference’s All‑Conference baseball honors, with six players earning spots on the league’s first, second or freshman teams.

Freshman of the Year Leads the Charge

Will Geary, the freshman phenom, captured the OVC Freshman of the Year award after a breakout season that saw him lead the club in batting average (.321), hits (69), triples (5), slugging percentage (.465) and on‑base percentage (.465). He also set a new Lindenwood NCAA‑era single‑season record with 27 stolen bases, underscoring his impact on the lineup.

Veteran right‑hander Josh Newell earned a repeat First Team selection, posting a 6‑5 record with a 2.51 earned‑run average and 58 strikeouts over the course of the season. His consistency has made him one of the most reliable arms in the conference.

Seth Benes joined Newell on the First Team’s counterpart, landing on the Second Team after a 2.33 ERA and a league‑high 75 strikeouts, a performance that highlighted his dominance on the mound.

The freshmen contingent also shone, with Lucas Niemeyer opening 13 games and posting a 4.38 ERA across 61.2 innings, while Sam Driscoll appeared in 41 games, batting .274 with four doubles, four triples, four homers and 20 RBIs. Owen Ralph, versatile and steady, logged 39 appearances, starting 25 times at second and third base.

Postseason Matchup Set

Lindenwood will open its postseason slate against UT Martin in the 2026 OVC Baseball Championship, a showdown that promises to test the Lions’ depth and momentum as they aim for a conference title.
