Linsly High School opened its season with a convincing 4-1 victory over Parkersburg High School, improving to 2-0-0 while the visitors fell to 1-3-1.
Early Pressure Sets the Tone
The contest was held up for about half an hour after a semi‑truck blocked the Cadets’ bus, but once play resumed Linsly struck first. Lucca Curry opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Jinyoung Noh doubled the lead just under six minutes later, putting the home side up 2-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second half Marcos Vaqueriza added a third goal, and a fourth tally came before the final whistle, cementing a comfortable margin. Parkersburg managed to pull one back when Jason Shahid found the net with eleven minutes remaining, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Parkersburg’s coach Ben Jones praised his team’s effort and highlighted the growth he’s seen from the senior leadership group, noting that the match showcased both technical skill and disciplined defending.
With a solid start to the campaign, Linsly looks to build on its early chemistry and maintain momentum as the schedule progresses, while Parkersburg will aim to regroup and address the gaps exposed in today’s contest.
