The 2026 Little League Baseball World Series opened on Wednesday, August 19, bringing together teams from across the globe in a celebration of youth baseball.
Boerne Little League from West Texas returned to the tournament after a temporary restraining order had briefly threatened its participation, much to the relief of its supporters.
The American regional champions include West Side Little League of Hamilton, Ohio; Bayonne Central Little League of New Jersey; East Side Little League of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Davenport Northwest Little League of Iowa, each having earned their spot through hard‑fought regional tournaments.
International participants add a world‑wide flavor, featuring South Korea’s West Seoul B, Canada’s Little Mountain Little League, the Dominican Republic’s Los Nacionales, Japan’s Joto Little League, Nicaragua’s Ministerio Sobre Las Alas Del Aguila, Mexico’s Municipal De Tijuana, and Panama’s David Doleguita.
Opening Day Schedule
The opening day schedule began at noon with a clash between Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, followed by a 2 p.m. contest pitting the Northwest representative against Phenix City, a 4 p.m. game that saw Canada face the Asia‑Pacific team, and concluded at 6 p.m. with a New England versus Metro showdown, all played at Volunteer and Lamade Stadiums in Williamsport.
Fans and families alike gathered to watch the first round of matches, eager to see how these young athletes would perform on the international stage.
