Loyola Marymount University’s men’s soccer program has unveiled its 2026 campaign, a schedule that blends early road challenges with a handful of marquee home dates at Sullivan Field.
The Lions open the season with three consecutive away games, beginning with a showdown against Michigan in Ann Arbor on August 20, followed by contests versus UC Irvine and SMU as they test themselves against Power Four opponents.
The first home appearance comes on September 2 when UNLV visits Los Angeles, kicking off a stretch that will see the team host Cal Poly and California Baptist before heading back on the road to face Cal State Fullerton.
Conference Play and Tournament Format
Four of the eight West Coast Conference matches will be played at Sullivan Field, giving the Lions a strong home advantage as they chase a spot in the inaugural WCC tournament.
The new tournament will feature the top four teams in a single‑elimination showcase, granting the champion an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and adding urgency to every league encounter.
After finishing the previous season at 5‑6‑7, the program is eager to translate early‑season tests into sustained improvement and a realistic shot at the postseason.
Looking Ahead
With a blend of experienced returnees and fresh talent, the coaching staff believes the schedule provides the right mix of adversity and opportunity to sharpen the squad’s competitive edge.
The early road trip to Michigan not only offers a chance to gauge the team’s readiness but also serves as a measuring stick against a program known for its robust non‑conference slate.
