LMU Secures Commitment from Noted Shot‑Blocker Abdoul Bare

Freshman joins Lions as coaching staff adds seven transfers

Loyola Marymount University has officially signed Abdoul Bare, a 6‑foot‑9 freshman from St. Joseph High School, to its men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2026‑27 season.

The Santa Maria native earned Mountain League First Team honors in his senior year, a testament to his length, athleticism and shot‑blocking prowess that have drawn attention from scouts and coaches alike.

A Defensive Upgrade

Bare’s arrival is expected to fortify the Lions’ interior, providing a rim‑protecting presence that complements the existing frontcourt.

He will be joined by fellow freshman JJ Harris, making the pair the second and third newcomers to the program’s 2026 recruiting class.

Head Coach Stan, who has been busy reshaping the roster this spring, announced that seven college transfers have also been added, bringing veteran experience and depth to the squad.

The coaching staff believes the blend of youthful talent and seasoned transfers positions LMU to compete more aggressively in the West Coast Conference.
