State Honors Celebrate Local Baseball Excellence

The spring sports season drew to a close with the release of all‑league and all‑state baseball honors, recognizing the top performers from teams across the region.

Rock Creek’s Red Raiders, fresh off a fourth straight state tournament berth, saw a cascade of selections as Isaac Braun, Macoy Moody, Nate Gallagher, Tayton Griffin, Peter Martinie, Wyatt Wells, Jordy Scott, Jaxon Pendell, Brock Lubbers, Palmer Martinie, Noah Valburg, Luke Lee, AJ Kunz, Brandon Poell and Brodie Cottam earned first‑team or second‑team accolades.

Council Grove’s baseball squad capped a record‑breaking year with six players — Reid Buttrey, Maxton Villalobos, Bradley Doornbos, Joshua Senne, Luke Stewart and Grady Kepley — named to the all‑league first team, while Coach Matt Wilkens was celebrated as the all‑state 3A coach of the year.

Other area teams also received recognition; Wabaunsee’s Karsyn Shoffner and Riley County’s Aiden Thompson were listed among the honorable mentions, while Twin Valley League selections were not available at the time of publication.

The Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches, which oversees many of these accolades, highlighted the depth of talent emerging from the state’s high school programs.
