The Hermantown baseball squad appeared to be in trouble early, but a steady push from starter Carter Wilson kept them afloat. Wilson tossed a complete game, surrendering just four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight, and his effort set the stage for a dramatic finish. In the bottom of the seventh, Jimmy Bartsch stepped up and launched a walk‑off double that sealed a 3‑2 victory over Proctor.
Other baseball action saw Bemidji dominate Duluth Marshall 5‑0, with the Bears’ pitcher limiting the opposition to a single walk and four strikeouts. Rock Ridge exploded for 17 runs against International Falls, highlighted by Jacob Coombe’s three‑run contribution, while Barnum’s Andrew Schlafer delivered a shutout, allowing only two hits and fanning seven batters in a 3‑0 win.
In softball, Duluth East’s Jossie Filiatrault turned in a complete‑game shutout against Duluth Denfeld, preserving a 4‑0 victory. River Falls’ Audra Adermann was equally effective, permitting just one hit and striking out four in an 8‑0 triumph over Superior. Northwood/Solon Springs edged Turtle Lake/Clayton 5‑4, thanks to Maddie Jacobs’ RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Proctor also shone in flag football, capturing two wins, the most exciting being a 34‑29 thriller over Mountain Iron‑Buhl that kept the team alive in the playoff picture.
