Logan DeMarzo, a senior at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, Massachusetts, recently found himself on the same court as Kayshon Boutte, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots.
The two met at King Street Memorial Park in Franklin, where DeMarzo had driven roughly twenty miles to join a pickup game that Boutte was organizing for local players.
DeMarzo, who also plays football and volleyball for his school, took on the role of defender, shadowing Boutte and even managing to score a few baskets against him.
His brother Derek, who had also been invited to the session, threw passes to Boutte, adding a familial dynamic to the informal contest.
Boutte, a 2023 sixth‑round draft pick out of LSU, used the opportunity to connect with local fans, spending time signing autographs and chatting with participants.
The encounter highlighted the growing trend of professional athletes engaging with community sports events, fostering goodwill and giving younger players a glimpse of elite competition.
Reflecting on the day, Boutte said he appreciated the chance to give back to the community that supports the Patriots, and he left the park with a renewed sense of commitment to the team’s off‑field outreach.
