The District 31 Major Little League Baseball tournament has entered its semifinal round, spotlighting two hometown teams eager to claim the title.
Greater Pittston Area (GPA) secured its spot with convincing wins, defeating Kingston/Forty Fort 11-1 in just four innings and then overpowering Wilkes-Barre 16-1.
Key to GPA’s success was pitcher Jake Hulse, who earned the win against Wilkes-Barre by driving in five runs and striking out twelve batters.
Across the bracket, Greater Wyoming Area (GWA) also advanced, beating Swoyersville/West Side 14-3 and edging Kingston/Forty Fort 6-5 in an eight‑inning thriller.
Semifinal Showdown
The semifinals are set for Sunday, with GPA hosting GWA in a much‑anticipated clash. The other semifinal will take place at Back Mountain, featuring the remaining contenders.
The championship game is scheduled for July 12, promising a finale that will crown the district’s champion and send one team to the next level of competition.
