Local Stars Shine at Softball and Baseball Awards

Charli Neumann, Kade Luker, and coaches Brent Hidalgo and Ryan Monceaux honored for standout seasons

The Louisiana Sports Writers Association recently announced its top honors for the 2025 softball and baseball seasons, celebrating the athletes and coaches who defined the year with remarkable performances.

Player Awards Highlight Season

Charli Neumann, a senior from St. John, captured the Most Outstanding Player award in softball after posting a .605 batting average, driving in 61 runs and launching 17 home runs, and she has committed to play at South Alabama.

Kade Luker of Cedar Creek was named the top baseball player, finishing the season with a 1.04 earned run average and 135 strikeouts across 74 innings, a key factor in the team’s 27‑6 record.

Coaches were also celebrated, with Brent Hidalgo of Central Catholic earning Class 1A Baseball Coach of the Year and Ryan Monceaux of Grand Lake receiving Class 1A Softball Coach of the Year.

Hidalgo guided Central Catholic to the Division IV Select semifinals, while Monceaux led Grand Lake to the Division IV Non‑Select semifinals, underscoring the impact of their leadership.

Both teams concluded the season with strong records, St. John finishing 19‑12 and Cedar Creek ending at 27‑6, reflecting the competitive depth of high school sports across the region.
