Baseball Honors Roll In
The recent Class One all‑state selections have put the region’s high school baseball and softball programs front and center, showcasing a blend of talent, teamwork, and coaching excellence that defined a memorable season.
Aiden Monohan of Patrick Henry emerged as the standout pitcher, earning the prestigious title of Class One Player of the Year. His dominance on the mound was complemented by teammates Kolby Hicks, who anchored the rotation as a pitcher, and Hank Rutherford, who provided steady hands behind the plate as catcher. First baseman Carter Brown also earned a spot on the first team, underscoring the depth of the Patrick Henry roster.
Honaker contributed its own star in Connor Musick, who was recognized as a designated hitter on the all‑state first team, adding offensive firepower to the squad.
Coach Eric Rutherford, the head mentor for Patrick Henry, was honored as Coach of the Year, a testament to his strategic guidance and ability to cultivate talent across the board.
Softball Excellence Recognized
In softball, Eastside’s Emma Sartin repeated as the Class One Player of the Year, this time as a pitcher, and also earned a first‑team nod. Her teammate Haley Frazier complemented the pitching staff with an outfield presence that helped the team secure crucial victories.
